IT Portfolio & Project Management Director - APAC

As IT Portfolio and Project Management Director for APAC you will report to the VP, Project & Portfolio Management, Aon Technology.

You will manage a team of project and program managers to deliver technology change within the region, supporting both business and technology initiatives in line with our strategy. These changes will be delivering regional capabilities and upgrades as well as deployment of global solutions into the region.

What the day will look like
  • Program and Project delivery for Aon Technology within the APAC region and across other regions for global projects driven from APAC.
  • Accountable for establishing the PPM structure, hiring, and managing staffing requirements in line with regional and global objectives.
  • Partners closely with regional leadership and global service owners to strengthen performance and drive impact on key strategic initiatives to ensure goals and benchmarks are achieved.
  • Establishes, owns, and manages relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders in support of overall business strategy and PMO Team effectiveness.
  • Interfaces with senior leaders to define project priorities, implementation opportunities and challenges and keep them up to date with project risks and delivery.
  • Lead the PMO team (FTE and FTC) to drive effective talent strategy and coaching and development, including setting performance targets for team and conducting performance reviews.
  • Responsible for communicating, translating and driving global strategy through projects taking into consideration regional and local aspects.
  • Responsible for ongoing stakeholder management and engagement around projects executed within the region.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for all APAC related IT projects.
  • Supports project delivery via participation in Steering Committees and driving strategic decisions around project delivery.
  • Partners with finance and sponsors to ensure projects are supported with business cases
  • Drive regional team cohesiveness.
  • Supports the VP in strategic and global initiatives.
  • Drives team engagement, ensures coaching and mentoring for key members of the Team.
  • Guides and supports stakeholders via global engagement processes and operating models.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 7+ years of strong project management competence with experience in managing different project methodologies.
  • 5+ years of experience working in matrixed, global organization.
  • Experience leading and working with diverse international teams.
  • Strong initiative, organization, project management and execution skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to lead by influence and facilitate consensus among sponsors and team members to achieve tactical and strategic goals.
  • Strength in relationship and network building across the organization.
  • Strong work ethic, tenacity, and resilience.
  • Basic understanding of IT and core architectural principles.
  • Knowledge of costing, budgeting, risk, and financial analysis.
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills (both written and oral with technical and non-technical colleagues).
