Why this role matters

The Children’s Specialist Support Service (CSSS) team supports children and young people aged 0-18 years that have experienced trauma due to homelessness and/or family violence.

The CSSS is a unique program in that the child or young person is our client. The CSSS provides a range of services including information and referral pathways, enhanced case management, therapeutic and recreational group work, psychological services as well as educational support.

What you'll do

You will provide psychological support to children, adolescents and adults affected by homelessness and family violence through Launch Housing. Your key responsibilities include:

• Conduct Cognitive and Educational Assessments. This includes test selection, administration, interpretation, report writing and feedback (to parents, teachers and other professionals).
• Provide outreach intervention to children, adolescents and adults. Intervention may be in the form of one on one counselling, group and family work or behavioural and learning support in schools.
• Provide parent training.
• Collaborate with other programs within the HCSSS (e.g. educational support) and Launch Housing (e.g. housing support) as well as with school wellbeing teams.

What we're looking for

• Full Psychology Registration with AHPRA (General, Clinical or Educational and Developmental).
• Be a Board Approved Supervisor to supervise a Provisional Psychologist, or have a willingness to provide field supervision to Provisional Psychologists if not a Board Approved Supervisor (desirable).
• Experience working with children and families impacted by homelessness, family violence and disadvantage.
• A positive and non-judgmental approach and ability to provide a flexible service, including outreach support in client’s homes and school.
• Ability to design, implement and review appropriate intervention strategies and program processes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Have experience providing counselling to children, adolescents and adults.
