Junior Buyer - Apparel

Fancy a change and heading to warmer climates, I am working with one of Australia’s fastest growing clothing and accessories brand, with more than 300 stores and a vast online presence across the globe, they have successfully developed a strong community of fashion-lovers, designers, innovators, experts and creatives who have taken them from Melbourne to the world. Their buying team is expanding and I am seeking a Junior Buyer to join their team working across their apparel. This role is fundamental in supporting the Senior Buyers.

Junior Buyer - Responsibilities:
Financial Accountability – trading the department to maximise profit
Critical path - supporting the production process to ensure key dates are met
Supplier liaison
Range management and building - developing a profitable and cohesive range
Commercial aptitude
Support the senior buyer by taking responsibility of a category/department
You will act under the guidance of a senior buyer to develop strategy
Weekly trade meetings
Working with suppliers to minimise repeat lead times and maximise trade
Push/Pull stock in line with forecasted stock holdings
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of local and overseas market competitors
Work alongside the design team to develop product in line with brand expectations and meet guidelines
Brief specifications to design, ensuring that all product requirements are considered when developing; including, costing, grading, end use and trend
Demonstrate a strong understanding of trend and its relevance to the Forever New brand and customer
Ensure that all sample approvals, lab dips and strike offs are confirmed in line with brand expectations
Build a balanced range reflective of market mindset and department strategy

Junior Buyer - The Candidate:
At least 3 years at Assistant Buyer level
Experience working over multiple product categories
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to manage a high workload and can work to tight deadlines.
Proven track record in managing deadlines to ensure all decisions are made quickly and effectively
Willingness to take initiative and have a ‘can do’ attitude.
Ability to drive department performance autonomously, taking commercial decisions to meet financial parameters
Ability to seek advice when necessary, and present to senior management, taking feedback on board where necessary
