About the Opportunity

We are excited to introduce newly created, entry level Technical Specialist opportunities in our Technical Engineering team based at our Head Office located in Melbourne. As a Junior Technical Specialist you will sit within the Fleet Technical Management team and work alongside our Technical Specialists in providing daily support to ensure our fleet remains compliant with continuing airworthiness and our aircraft continue remain efficient in alignment with business requirements.

This is a developmental role for those willing to learn and grow in taking on many standard Specialist responsibilities aligned to your level of experience, with the ability to build expertise on the various aircraft systems.

Reporting to the Fleet Technical Manager, responsibilities for this role will include:

Carry out all Technical Specialist responsibilities for assigned specializations (e.g. Airframe Systems, Structures, Cabin Systems, Avionics, Powerplant, Major Components or e-Enabling)
Provide support to Technical Specialists where required
Ensure work is accomplished to the standards set by the regulations and the Jetstar manual suite
Ensure that the Maintenance Operations Department is supported with robust Technical support
Ensure that the TRAX maintenance information system is utilized per defined procedures to effectively manage aircraft service literature and modification programs on the fleet.
Maintain an overview of the fleets Configuration and ensure that the fleets standards are maintained
Ensure that the aircraft deliver the OTP goals set by Jetstar senior management
Actively work with our Reliability team and provide technical solutions to improve fleet reliability
Assist with management of fleet campaigns that may be required due to reliability and/or safety related findings from the operational fleet
Support line / base maintenance activity and AOG (aircraft on ground) recovery to reduce ground time and improve aircraft availability

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills & experience:

Qualifications as a Professional engineer (degree) or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer trade (certificate IV in Aeroskills)
Minimum 3 years study or practical working experience in aviation engineering
Ability to communicate & negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Process driven, with experience in constructing new processes to deliver business goals
Highly motivated with a learning mindset
Able to build effective working relationships
Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite (in particular Excel and Powerpoint)
