The Opportunity
Due to the impending retirement of one of our valued team members, this role is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Lab Tech professional to join our Operations Unit. Reporting to the Lab R&D/QC Manager, the Laboratory Technician will aid in the technical/analytical maintenance of the business whilst offering qualitative and quantitative support to both our chemical products and customers chemical process control
Duties include:
- Responsible for performing analytical tests on customer samples using titrimetric, spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques.
- Enter results to ensure data is complete and accurate for compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Storage and disposal of samples in accordance with company guidelines & Government regulations
- Maintenance and calibration of Laboratory equipment.
- Ensure adequate stocks of chemical reagents, glassware & lab consumables are always maintained to ensure continuity of testing
- Manufacture of laboratory sized batches of products.
- Quality control checks on manufactured products & incoming raw materials as required.
- Assisting R&D team in product development and product improvement activities as required.
- Understanding of the correct & safe operation of all corrosion testing equipment
- Ensure all procedures & methods are followed in accordance with company guidelines.
- Compliance of all safety requirements & PPE in accordance with current OH&S practices
- Ensure work area is always maintained & kept clean & safe.
About You
The successful applicant will be tertiary qualified (Degree or Diploma in Science, Chemistry) and will have practical experience in a laboratory servicing external and internal customers. ISO 9001 experience will be looked on favourably
We require an individual with strong computer skills, especially in Excel, good mathematical skills, well-developed interpersonal, time management, communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
This role is comprised of approximately 50% Wet Chemical Analysis; therefore, we require strong skills in this area.
