Job description
Our client is one of Australia’s leading schools with a strong reputation for the standard of their education and development of their students. They are seeking a Laboratory Technician for an immediate start that will focus on supporting General Science classes and work closely with the Laboratory Manager / Technician and other teaching staff to ensure the science curriculum is always delivered competently and safely during this period.
Duties include:
Ensuring facilities are maintained and that all preparation for class work is completed in a timely manner.
Liaising with the Lab Manager / Technician and teaching staff from other science departments.
Demonstrating laboratory techniques to science teaching staff and students.
Preparing solutions, stains and media for use in laboratories.
Maintaining a safe chemical storage, handling and disposal system.
Assisting with the security of the science laboratories, prep rooms and equipment.
Maintaining accurate inventory of equipment and acquiring relevant catalogues and price lists.
Assisting with labelling, storage, stocktaking and ordering of equipment and chemicals.
Servicing and cleaning simple laboratory apparatus / equipment.
Collecting and maintain specimens and samples (in accordance with regulations).
Collecting off campus scientific materials and field samples.
Ideally you will have:
Experience working within a science laboratory in an educational sector
A minimum qualification of Diploma of Applied Science (or equivalent)
An understanding of the local education sector
A current Employee Working with Children Check.
Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
