About the Role
These opportunities don’t happen often, and we have one for a self-motivated and experienced Laboratory Technician to join Iluka’s Southwest Laboratory team, based in Capel, Western Australia.
The primary purpose of this role is to carry out analysis to set procedures on environmental, exploration, R&D, mine, production, and shipping samples. The role plays a critical part in the provision of accurate data central to decision making, and therefore a strong attention to detail and technical competence is essential.
The core responsibilities of the role include:
contributing to a safe workplace by conducting risk assessments, addressing hazards and implementing improvements.
preparation and analysis of water and minerals samples.
operation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
execution of the laboratory quality system to ensure accurate data is generated as per NATA accreditation to ISO 17025; and
assisting in other sections of the laboratory as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
a Certificate III in Laboratory Technology, or higher.
an ability and desire to adhere to environmental, OH&S and company standards and policies.
an aptitude for following laboratory procedures, including the use of control standards, replicates, duplicates within a mature laboratory quality system.
a high attention to detail.
the ability to work in small teams, or on own, with minimal supervision.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
experience working with XRF, XRD, ICP-OES, AAS, Chromatography and automated systems.
proficiency with CCLAS or similar Laboratory Information Management System software.
previous experience working in a laboratory within the resource industry.

This position is residential in the Southwest working a Monday to Friday, standard 40 hour week.
