Landscape Technical Officer

Full time, fixed term opportunity until March 2024
Werribee based
Band 5 salary of $78,200 plus super and a fortnightly RDO

A bit about the role

As a Landscape Technical Officer in Wyndham Councils Open Space department, you will provide technical advice to developers, landscape architects and contractors in regard to landscape and urban design issues.

You will also assist in holding developers, landscape architects and contractors accountable for the quality of landscape and urban design works within the council.

What you’ll do

Site inspections and correspond with developers and contractors to ensure landscaping and urban design standards are established and maintained to the highest level
Maintaining records for practical completion and handover procedures including internal and external notification
Assisting in the management of capital works projects and ensuring they are carried out to the required standard, in a timely manner and within budget
Assisting in pre-tender and tender procedures, development of tender documentation and in the evaluation of tenders and quotes

What you’ll bring

Knowledge and ability in project planning
Community consultation skills
General knowledge of local, state, and federal Government interrelationships, program functions and resource allocations and acquisition of funding
Understanding of the principles and practice of design of public space as it relates to environmental, social and economic development
Ability to read and interpret landscape and similar plans
A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
