Are you an experienced family lawyer? In this role you will utilise your legal expertise to support vulnerable and disadvantaged Queenslanders. This role plays an important role in the state's justice system, and the Child Protection Team is a specialist team that provides responsive, targeted and child-focused legal information, advice and representation and referrals to appropriate services.
What you will do

• Representing clients in Child Protection matters, including preparing matters, participation in family group meetings and court ordered conferences, instructing counsel and personally appearing as an advocate
• Provide duty lawyer services and specialist legal information and advice to parents and if appropriate children and young people
• Provide legal advice, assistance and advocacy to vulnerable parents involved or at risk of becoming involved in the Child Protection system

About you: The successful candidate will have

• Knowledge of Queensland Child Protection legislation, practices and procedures and experience in the conduct of complex Child Protection and related matters
• Proven ability to deal with clients with complex needs in stressful situations
• The ability to make considered and ethical decision, manage ambiguity, and identify when guidance from senior legal practitioners is required
