  • Two maximum term positions available up to January 2024, part time considered

About the role:
In this role you will act as an advocate by providing high quality legal services including duty lawyer services, casework and advice services in civil law matters that most affect people's rights. A key focus of this role will be assisting clients with advice and assistance in relation to the National Disability Insurance Agency's Independent Expert Review Program.

You will work collaboratively within the team, to advocate for systematic changes to laws, policies and practices relating to economic and social rights, and will contribute to various VLA projects as required.

About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in advocating for clients by providing quality legal advice and services, particularly in National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) matters, and also civil practice related matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with people from a range of backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people with disability, people experiencing mental health issues and people experiencing social or economic disadvantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work with others and foster a cooperative and supportive team environment.
  • We also value candidates' lived experience and understanding of the systems we assist our clients with.
