About the role

Join Australia’s premier Class Actions team in our vibrant Sydney CBD office. With a diverse base of legal cases aimed at securing justice for victims of mass wrongs, our work is challenging and rewarding with excellent career development opportunities.

We are recruiting for two roles:

Role 1: 0 to 2 years PAE – graduates and recently admitted Lawyers 

This will be a busy and exciting opportunity for a high performing individual seeking to start their career as a lawyer in Australia’s leading and most successful class actions practice. The successful candidate will possess excellent legal research skills, strong attention to detail, effective communications skills for assisting with the management of a large number of clients and a commitment to social justice.  This position will involve you as follows:

  • Undertaking legal research
  • Assisting with discovery and documentary evidence
  • Communicating with clients and assisting with book build activities
  • Preparing briefs for and instruct counsel
  • Assisting with working with experts
  • Assisting with interlocutory, procedural and case management issues
  • Participating in Class Actions events and activities

Role 2: 3 to 6 years PAE – experienced Lawyers, Associates or Senior Associates

You will become part of our experienced group of specialised class actions lawyers who are passionate about extending access to justice and will manage day to day conduct of complex class action litigation under supervision of a Principal Lawyer.

This position will see you involved in:

  • Assisting with the preparation of evidence including complex expert evidence
  • Briefing and instructing counsel
  • Assisting with preparation for mediation and trial
  • Leading interlocutory, procedural and case management issues
  • Day to day management of class actions
  • Managing client and class member enquiries

The experience we are looking for: 

Role 1: 0 to 2 years PAE

  • Strong academic capacity
  • Litigation experience (desirable) or a keen interest to specialise in Class Actions
  • Experience carrying out complex legal research
  • Strong attention to detail while being able to see the “big picture”
  • Works effectively with others and fosters positive relationships
  • Contributes to team success and collaborates seamlessly
  • Resourceful and resilient, you find creative solutions and adapt to challenges

Role 2: 3 to 6 years PAE

  • Strong academic capacity
  • Strong technical legal skills; excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Experience working in complex civil and commercial litigation; experience within Class Actions will be highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with stakeholders including clients, other practitioners, counsel, the Court, and litigation funders
  • Ability to lead and mentor members of a litigation team to achieve a result for our clients
  • Strong attention to detail while being able to see the “big picture” and manage complex litigation to a successful conclusion
