Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical direction and assigning work to a broader electrical team comprising of electrical engineers, designers, drafters and others who assist in performing specific assignments.
- Generating electrical calculations and development of electrical designs for infrastructure including 132kV substation and transmission lines, 33kV distribution including overhead transmission lines, transportable substations and brownfield modifications and tie ins to existing substations.
- Planning, coordinating and preparing electrical design criteria, scopes of work, bid evaluations and award recommendations.
- Reviewing and checking work of other electrical engineers.
- Preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
- Performing conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals.
- Answers questions from client or construction group on electrical scope within assigned responsibility.
- Assisting in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and providing input for their performance evaluations.
- Supporting the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Complying with and promoting Bechtel (and client's) safety in design procedures to ensure that the asset delivered by Bechtel can be operated and maintained safely.
To be considered for the Lead Electrical Engineer role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- A recognized degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
- 10 years minimum experience in electrical engineering.
- Experience with 132 and 33 kV distribution and substations
- Experience across study, design, construction and commissioning phases of power distribution and transmission projects.
- Experience in leading an electrical group within a broader multiple discipline project team.
- Experience in the mining and metals industry including the design of process plants, materials handling systems and non-process infrastructure preferred.
- Demonstrated technical capabilities in front end engineering studies preferred.
- In depth knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to civil discipline.
- Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other discipline teams associated with the total design effort.
- Australian work rights mandatory.
