Remuneration aligns with Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021.

Position Overview

Casuarina teachers provide an exceptional Steiner educational environment and learning experience for all students. You will join the college of teachers dedicated to providing an imaginative and holistic approach to teaching and learning based on Steiner’s pedagogical insights within a dynamic and progressive Steiner educational environment.

Suitable candidates will be creative, adaptable, nurturing, and understanding of Steiner education’s principles, practices, and theory. We seek enthusiastic individuals willing to participate in all aspects of the Casuarina community.

The Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) works collaboratively across all facets of Casuarina Steiner School to ensure students with additional needs are effectively supported appropriately to their needs. The role ensures that support activities are best practices compliant with regulatory authorities’ guidelines and reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a robust commitment to Steiner education, demonstrated experience as a Learning Coordinator in a Steiner primary school, and relevant qualifications for eligibility for accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority and as a Learning Support Coordinator. The Learning Support Coordinator leads the Learning Support team in coordinating and delivering special education. Ideal candidates will also have excellent communication and coordination skills and will be skilled in assessing learning needs and applying high-quality integration and Learning Support strategies. The ideal candidate will have post-graduate qualifications in special education and or inclusive education, with demonstrated experience working with and supporting students with additional learning needs.

Selection Criteria

1. Formal teaching qualifications. Special Education qualifications will be highly desirable.
2. Current NESA registration.
3. Current or eligible for Working with Children Check (under the Child Protection Act 2012).
4. A thorough understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005
5. Significant experience in Learning Support in primary school, preferably across a range of classes.
6. Enthusiasm and dedication to the Steiner curriculum
7. Commitment to further personal development through anthroposophical study and artistic activity
8. Demonstrate a broad knowledge of pedagogy and issues around the many learning styles that students require to reach their potential.
9. Understanding of issues relevant to the development of the child in the primary years
10. Strategies for improving the learning outcomes of students across a range of classes
11. Excellent organisational and administrative skills
12. Interpersonal and communication skills of a high standard.
13. Positive attitude towards children and a love of teaching
