About This Opportunity
The Lecturer in Research will primarily lead the MD Program research teaching and research support for medical students in the CQWB Regional Medical Pathway (RMP) at the Rockhampton and Bundaberg Regional Clinical Units (RCU). This position will additionally contribute to and lead (as appropriate) research endeavours which will help the UQRCS to reach its research goals.
Key responsibilities will include:
Teaching: Provide high quality research teaching and support for RMP medical students at the Rockhampton and Bundaberg RCUs.
Liaise with the academics leading the MD Research teaching and learning activities to ensure consistency in Learning Outcomes are achieved for RMP medical students.
Contribute to the provision of the Year 2 Research Selective, providing local support for RMP medical students including the recruitment of supervisors for projects.
Lead the staged implementation of research teaching for the new MD program, from Years 1 - 4.
Research: Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship.
Assist with and lead (as appropriate) preparation, dissemination and translation of research findings.
Contribute to building the Regional Clinical Unit and the Rural Clinical School’s research capacity that aligns with RHMT parameters, by enabling and engaging in collaborative research projects between UQ academics, health service clinicians and other partners.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Coordination of extracurricular student research activity.
Facilitation of engagement in Research opportunities for students as part of their curriculum and extra-curricular research.
Provide supervision and guidance to medical students and clinicians.
Support individual academics and research teams by providing a specialist literature search service (rapid reviews through to systematic reviews), as well as basic data analyses.
Citizenship and Service: Contribute proactively and respectfully to the RCU’s and RMP.
Promote and foster interest in rural health related research for medical students and ATHs.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2025
At Academic level B. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $106,079 - $125,687 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $124,113 - $147,054 annually.
As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You
Bachelor’s degree and PhD, preferably in a health-related discipline.
Experience in undertaking or facilitating research, including progression of research translation and impact.
Demonstrate design of effective learning materials in Research (methods) education.
Developing track record of contribution to the supervision of students in Research, including enrolled HDR candidates.
High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and the wider community.
Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
Highly developed organisational skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex working environment.
A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
A growing profile in Research discipline related to rural health, including contribution to successful applications for external funding.
