QLS has a part-time opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join the Legal Policy team. The primary purpose of the Legal Policy team is progress the Queensland Law Society mission to advocate for good law and support good lawyers.
In this role you will:
- Provide general clerical and administrative support to the General Manager, Policy, Public Affairs and Governance, Legal Policy Manager and Policy Solicitors and other members of the Legal Policy team.
- Assist the Legal Policy team with the support of legal policy committees
- Manage and update the Legal Policy Worklist to record completed and upcoming submissions, prepare statistics for internal reporting purposes and review parliamentary records for mentions of Qld Law Society
- Coordinate and draft content for Proctor, Parliamentary Update, QLS Update (weekly Legal Policy contribution – including call for submissions), social media on a variety of current law reform issues
- Publish relevant Legal Policy submissions on QLS website
- Provide support to Law Clerks with council submissions for appointment and resignation of legal policy committee members.
Ideally you will have the following
- Studying towards a relevant qualification in law (having completed at least the equivalent of 1- 2 years full-time study)
- Excellent customer service skills to provide efficient and effective assistance.
- Well-developed planning, organisational and time management skills along with the capacity to prioritise and complete tasks within competing timeframes.
- High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated competency in the use of modern office technology, including the MS Office Suite
