An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Livestock Overseer. Located in the South Stirling/Green Range area on the south coast of WA, approximately 70km north-east of Albany. Close proximity to pristine coastline, beaches and National parks and an outstanding small community with local country club. A well regarded primary school and access to high school bus to either Albany or Mount Barker is also available.
About The Role:
- The role will consist of reporting to the owner to plan, organise, coordinate and perform daily/weekly operations and assist planning longer term livestock strategies
- Basic duties for 10,000 Merino ewes and 300 Angus breeding cows will include, mustering, drenching, drafting, fencing, monitoring lambing and calving, marking, feeding, organising shearing and crutching
- General maintenance and assisting with seeding and harvest if required
- You will be required to work competently alone along with managing additional staff and contractors when required
- Working alongside a team of 5 full-time employees
- Demonstrated experience working with livestock, sheep and cattle,
- Previous employment and other agriculture experience,
- Additional skills and tickets/certificates (Chem cert or HC/MC would be highly regarded),
- Drivers License.
- Experience with all aspects of livestock (sheep and cattle) husbandry will be highly regarded,
- Must have drivers license, a willingness to learn and work with others, be fit, energetic and easy to get along with,
- Ability to be well organised and have an eye for detail.
- The remuneration package is negotiable depending on experience and level of responsibility, minimum of $35 per hour,
- 45 hour standard working week with overtime available,
- Two houses available on farm (4 x 1 and 4 x 2) both with reverse cycle air-conditioning, well maintained with new kitchens,
- Close to South Stirling Primary School.
