OUR STORY
The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.
The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

THE ROLE
INDIGENOUS PROTECTED AREA (IPA) DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (HAASTS BLUFF ALT) - LM043 - ALICE SPRINGS
CL 6 $83,728.00 progressing to $96,180.00
This position will assess the feasibility of establishing an Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) on the Haasts Bluff Aboriginal Land trust, West of Alice Springs. Over the contract period the Development Officer will work with traditional owners and Aboriginal communities of the region to:
- a) Initiate an on country and community-based planning process to support the development of indigenous land management in the region;
- b) Investigate the feasibility of establishing an IPA over the Haasts Bluff Aboriginal Land Trust (ALT).
- c) Create a Plan of Management documenting the results of the consultation process, in accordance with the 'Our Country, Our Way' guidelines for Australian Indigenous Protected Area Management Plans.
The position will require extensive field work and remote travel.
BENEFITS
- Attractive base salary plus 15.4% superannuation
- Generous salary packaging (maximum $29,000 annually, depending on individual circumstances);
- Ongoing district allowance (circa $3,490 for an individual or $6,400 with dependents);

- Subsidised, fully furnished accommodation for the first four months.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
