About the Project
This is an opportunity to join a once in a lifetime Tasmanian Project for the Creative Design and Construction of the iconic New Bridgewater Bridge.

About the Role
McConnell Dowell is currently recruiting for a Logistics Manager for our New Bridgewater Bridge Project, based in Hobart. Reporting to the Project Construction Manager, the position will focus on ensuring the mobilisation, maintenance, ongoing safety and cost effectiveness of all plant and material on site, including that of various sub-contractors.

Major Objectives

Responsible for the efficient and effective coordination and supervision of all construction activities whilst ensuring that all safety, environmental and quality aspects are adhered to.

Ensure planned controls for safety, environmental and quality aspects of the project are met.
Compliance with the safety and environmental responsibilities.
Responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of yard logistics and operations.
Key Accountabilities

Support and direct the works to ensure completion in accordance with the relevant project plans and procedures.
Provide support and direction to personnel.
Ensure all works are being carried out safely across the project.
Ensure that daily reports and timesheets are filled out correctly.
Coordinate and supervise works.
Ensure all work procedures are being followed, maintained and adhered to across the Project.
Manage the logistics of all resources for the whole project.
Direct the operations of incoming and outgoing materials from the NBB yards, small tools assets, and equipment maintenance yards.
Ensure all yard loading/unloading, traffic operations, personnel access, and daily operations are undertaken in line with MCD and TAS legislative requirements.
Adherence to safety regulations and legislative requirements.
Interaction with Safety, Environmental and Quality Advisors.
Promote total job safety and environmental awareness by employees, subcontractors and all persons in the job vicinity and stress to all employees and subcontractors the importance senior management attaches to safe work practices and environmental protection.
Ensure that safe and environmentally acceptable working methods and practices are implemented and that all plant and equipment is made available, properly operated and maintained, to enable operations to be carried out safely and without environmental harm.
Ensure that hazards are identified, risks assessed, and control measures planned and implemented in consultation with relevant employees.
Monitor and review the performance of plant, labour and subcontractors to ensure production targets are met or bettered and take appropriate action as necessary.
Promptly advise management of issues that could be variations to the contract and keep accurate records of such issues.
Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes, and standards, which form part of the contract.
Ensure all personnel are inducted and trained in their role and responsibilities and are competent to perform the duties allocated to them.
Assess and allocate priorities as necessary.
About You

Minimum of five years' experience relevant to the construction, building or manufacturing industries.
Minimum of three years' experience relevant to the designated project and having previously held a position of Logistics Manager or similar.
Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementing of same.
Strong and proven ability to lead, direct and manage groups of diverse employees.
Exceptional vigour and energy accompanied by good oral and written communication skills.
