Yancoal Australia is Australia's largest pure play coal producer. Our Ashton Coal Operations include an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell. The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Longwall Engineer to join the Ashton Engineering Team. The successful applicant will work closely with the Longwall Coordinator and Longwall Electrical Engineer to ensure the longwall is operating effectively and maintained to the highest possible standards.
Applicants must have a commitment to working safely, be a self starter, proactive, results orientated and focused on maintaining the high standards in place at the mine.
From time to time, the successful applicant may be required to work weekends.
Reporting directly to the Longwall Coordinator but indirectly to the Engineering Manager, some of the responsibilities for the Longwall Engineer will include:

• Develop detailed short and long term plans for longwall maintenance tasks;
• Lead fault-finding activities;
• Be responsible for the Longwall Engineering availability results and to develop actions to rectify bad equipment performance.

Skills and Experience
To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Trade certificate (mechanical)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations or maintenance of longwall equipment;
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mechanical supervisory role;
• Sound understanding of longwall equipment;
• Ability to communicate with external stakeholders;
• Proven leadership skills
• Knowledge of budgeting processes;
• Strong SAP skills as well as proficiency in the use of Microsoft suite;
• Commitment to Safety;
• Sound knowledge of the Coal Mining Health & Safety legislation.
