In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Reporting to the Lead Operations Standards and Support, the Longwall Relocations Manager will lead longwall moves across all Steelmaking Coal (SMC) underground sites.

This is a full-time permanent role based at our Regional Office Hub in Moranbah.

The role will be rewarding and varied and will involve the following:
  • Facilitate the development of longwall move plans and schedules well in advance and to track and measure and report on their progress
  • Develop and review/overhaul repair scopes for the longwall equipment
  • Provide overall guidance to SMC mine sites in the project management of longwall equipment overhauls, repairs, compatibility trails, conformity audits, quality assurance, change management and operational risk assessments to ensure on time delivery of the equipment to site to facilitate installation
  • Define the equipment and resource scope and schedules for all mine sites and external hire equipment and labour requirements for longwall relocations
  • Engage and manage contractors associated with longwall move activities
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development and review of commissioning process to facilitate reliable production ramp up and flawless start up through to handover
  • Lead regular longwall move project coordination meetings
  • Provide review and approval of scope changes, variations and trends
  • Set performance standards that will deliver operations excellence and ensure they are met
  • Develop and document the longwall requirements with respect to all the criteria to be met in the installation that will impact upon longwall operations
  • Initiate and maintain regular interaction with the SMC mine sites and other Underground operations and integrate lessons learned
  • Report on post relocation review and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable) combined with extensive longwall operation and relocation experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar/same role in the resources sector
  • Strong track record with engaging with stakeholders across multiple sites and workstreams
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing solutions to complex longwall issues
  • Track record of interfacing with and influencing across all functions of the business
