Do you want to help some of the largest, most interesting organisations in the world - imagine, deliver and run the future?

In response to unprecedented demand for our market leading M&A Consulting services, we are looking to hire problem solvers to join our team in Melbourne to deliver trusted advice and practical solutions for our clients.

If you are looking to take your career to the next level and gain exposure to the world of mergers and acquisitions, then our team provides you with the perfect opportunity:

We have supported some of Australia’s most iconic transactions across private equity and corporate Australia.
We invest in our people - you will have access to experienced coaches, world class training and global development opportunities.

About the team

We know that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) are a huge deal for businesses, so whether the focus is on growth through acquisitions or increasing shareholder value through strategic divestments, we support clients from start to finish.

Our M&A Consulting Services Team focuses on the deal cycle - including assessment of deal targets with commercial and operational due diligence, pre-deal analysis, deal execution and implementation. We provide support for our clients during sell-side separations and buy-side integrations, with a focus on increasing growth and value, and helping our clients navigate complex deal processes.

What will your typical day look like?

You will help drive the thinking of Corporate and Private Equity clients to uncover the true strategic and operational capability of acquisitions or divestments. You will bring a strategic point of view, structured problem solving, great consulting skills and disciplined planning capabilities. Pre-deal, you will lead teams to assess the operational, strategic and synergy value of clients' deals. Post-deal, you drive the integration or separation planning, always striving to put the client in the best possible position to realise the full potential of the deal.

As a key member of the team, you will also be involved with:
Financial analysis and due diligence for the proposed transaction
Development of strategic growth options and acquisition strategies for clients
Preparation of acquisition / carve out business cases for review by key stakeholders
Pre-deal advisory work including strategy design and articulation, market and target assessment, structured problem solving and strategic decision making
Development of integration / separation strategies to extract maximum value from the transaction including operating model design and change management
Execution of the transaction, including the negotiation of Transitional Service Agreements, blueprinting and Day-1 (Completion) readiness planning
End-to-end project management of large-scale transactions
Contribute to practice and business development activities e.g. through the development of thought leadership material and/or sales materials
Supporting junior staff to operationalise the deal process for clients through knowledge of the M&A lifecycle and excellent project management skills

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You are someone with:
Bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification (e.g. CA / CFA / MBA)
3+ years advisory/consulting experience, ideally from a Big 4, strategy or boutique consulting firm or the internal strategy function of a large corporate - this is provided as a guidance only, please don't let it limit you, if you feel you have something to add to our team
Natural aptitude to problem solving and structured thinking
Strategy toolkit
Experience with the broader deal-oriented process and environment
Excellent financial and analytical skills
Articulate communication and confident presentation skills
Pragmatic commercial acumen – able to identify risks and develop solutions to manage those risks
Demonstrated ability in structuring complex problems into discrete components and communicate these to the team
Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced environment and willingness to deal with ambiguity and change
Project management experience in planning, overseeing and leading large-scale projects to completion
