UGLs Manufacturing and Maintenance business are looking for an experienced and driven Maintenance Planner to join our Transport and Technology project team in Nebo.
The role of the Maintenance Planner is to develop, establish and monitor maintenance schedules that ensure the effective use of labour, materials, equipment, tools, and plant, maximising locomotive availability to meet operational requirements. The position will coordinate all maintenance schedules with inventory/ finished goods/loco servicing requirements, ensure performance measurements and cost collection systems are in place at all stages of production and continually reviewed and maintain maintenance records on the Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate the human resource, tools, equipment, and other requirements arising from each production plan.
- Analysis of production plans, contracts, engineering and other information to estimate time spans for the processing of materials, parts, tools and assemblies to meet contractual delivery requirements.
- Develop draft production schedules and coordinate final schedules and approval with the Service Manager, Supervisors, and other interested parties.
- Coordinate implementation of production schedule with the Supervisor.
- Continual review of production schedule and reallocate resources in line with ever changing production demands and customer requirements.
- Calculate machine and operator loads and advise Service Manager/Supervisor of potential bottleneck problems.
- Prepare production analysis charts, labour, job and machine load forecasts.
- Review actual production against schedules and develop weekly & monthly performance summaries and project completion reports. Recommending action to eliminate further delays or non-compliance with production schedules.
- Develop planned shutdowns for maintenance and repairs ensuring efficient and rapid correction of plant machinery faults and breakdowns, effective ongoing maintenance, cleanliness, and safety with minimum loss of production time.
- High level of business acumen and understanding of commercial practices.
- A proven understanding and working knowledge, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, working in a sourcing and procurement function in heavy industry/high capital-intensive business.
- Strong systems, operational, financial, resource planning and reporting skills.
- Experienced gained in the rail, automotive, military, Defence, avionics or any other safety critical environment.
- Knowledge of quality management systems highly regarded.
