Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
- We are currently seeking highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor - Heavy Mobile Equipment to join our Maintenance Department at our Capcoal Surface Operation in Middlemount, QLD.
We are seeking an applicant who possess the drive and passion to develop a culture focused on safety and efficiency that will be able to deliver high availability and reliability to our fleet of equipment.
In this crucial role, you will report directly to the Superintendent for the relevant area to provide frontline leadership in our Maintenance department.
You will be required to ensure all mechanical tasks are carried out in a safe, timely and cost effective manner. Your focus on continuous improvement, strong leadership capability and knowledge of computer based maintenance programs will be necessary in this role.
You will be expected to assist with maintenance budgets and add value through developing strong team dynamics and a positive working environment.
Additionally, you will support effective resource allocation (people, equipment, and resources) to meet maintenance work schedules, whilst consistently striving to achieve zero harm to employees and contractors.
This role will see you lead a team of trades’ people to deliver planned and corrective maintenance while having extensive experience in mining mobile equipment such as trucks, dozers, loaders, excavators, and graders.
You will be focused on zero harm, be driven and have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to be able to influence that stakeholder buy in.
Qualifications
- You will possess mechanical trade qualifications or degree qualifications (such as mechanical engineering).
You will have a strong understanding of open cut mining equipment and mining techniques and a proven track record in leadership roles.
