About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Bechtel corporate team for a Management Information (MI) Analyst. This position offers an opportunity to work in management information across the business. It would suit an individual from a project controls / accounting background, interested in financial management, analysis and reporting. The Management Information (MI) Analyst will, as part of the team, be responsible for planning tasks that generate GBU forecasts (New Work Book, Workoff, Overhead and Operating Centres) and track, analyse and report against those forecasts. The position reports to the GBU Manager of Information.

The main responsibilities of the role includes but is not limited to:

  • Compiles information regarding Bechtel jobs, offices and personnel to prepare forecast information
  • Input forecast data in various information systems
  • Analyse project and business performance across the Mining and Metals Global Business Unit
  • Researches general business information sources
Work is performed within established guidelines and under the direction of a Senior Information Research Analyst, an Information Research Manager or other responsible manager. Assistance may be received in planning the steps involved to complete any ad hoc tasks. Work is reviewed for logic and completeness.

Contacts may include any of the following:
  • Designated contacts in global business units (GBUs), Operations/Services and M&BD, including senior managers, and Project Cost/Finance & Accounting staff for the purpose of gathering project and prospect information, and for overhead forecasting and reporting.
  • External information sources for market research and other related purposes. External contact when authorized by supervisor
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Works with responsible manager and executive management's administrative staff in defining the desired content of forecast information and briefing packages.
  • Prepares forecast estimates and briefing packages for executive management including information and reports on projects, prospects, offices, clients, overhead and general country information.
  • Interacts with senior / functional management of the GBU to develop and track the overhead forecasts required to run the GBU.
  • Interacts with project cost staff reviewing project information, Project Financial Status Reports (PFSRs), and other data on project performance.
  • Prepares country and industry studies using published economic, political and statistical material.
  • Reviews a variety of published material for data relevant to the department's files on clients, competitors, countries and industries.
  • Conducts research as required to respond to general business questions.
  • Inputs data into and extracts information from various information systems and databases.
  • Other as required duties.
Skills and Experience
  • Working knowledge of Bechtel operations and organization (Beneficial)
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Corporate systems such as Corporate Financial Analytics & Reporting (CFAR) (Beneficial)
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Advanced level of Excel skills and a working knowledge of applications including Powerpoint and Word
  • Working knowledge of worldwide information sources relating to financial, economic and industrial information.
  • Analytical skill sufficient to assist in the interpretation of the significance of economic, political or technical trends to company operations
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to establish positive working relationships with executive management's staff and to prepare reports for executive leadership.
