About our Engineering Team

The Jetstar Engineering Team are at the forefront of delivering operational excellence. They are responsible for ensuring the airworthiness and reliability of our fleet.

As part of the investment in our future, we have a fleet of new A320NEO’s arriving from mid-2022 and we recently launched the Melbourne Engineering Precinct, which is the primary maintenance hub of our network. Our team has the opportunity to work not only on Jetstar aircraft, but also support Qantas Group A320/1, B717 and A321 Freighter aircraft and Jetstar Branded Airlines (JBA’s) in Singapore and Japan. The Melbourne Precinct has also become the proud new home for our Apprentice Program.

The Opportunity

Join our Engineering Team at Jetstar as the AMO Manager Operations Systems. The AMO Manager Operations Systems is accountable for managing all IT systems that are required within the AMO operational & support areas.

This role will ensure all associated technical infrastructure is adequate to enable effective AMO activity across the ports. It will coordinate and manage the ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and training to support existing systems to its fullest.

This role will also be the internal business focal to implement (using Agile methodology) new systems into the AMO as directed by AMO Leadership to optimise internal processes.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Production & Workforce Planning, key responsibilities of this role include:

Develop and manage the Systems Support strategy and methodology to deliver the best business solution outcomes.
Effective management of the system’s external providers, including contract review, system and maintenance, pricing and relationship management;
In conjunction with systems users, the identification, development and implementation of system enhancements that support the improved functionality;
Day-to-day management of systems suppliers as the operational contact;
Management and implementation of system upgrades across the network;
Identification and coordination of user training as required to build user capability in the use of rostering systems.
Develop a solid relationship with system vendors to ensure systems meet JQ current and future needs.
Developing both self & team to keep abreast of changes to the system / functional / technical capabilities in order to optimise the system to its fullest.
Regular interaction with Key Vendors to ensure that Service Levels and targets are met;
Project manage a team of skilled technical professionals, building skills and capabilities
Identify key business needs and translate these into system requirements
Develop user training needs and ensure systems users are skilled in using the system
Comply with all responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities as required by the Group management system standard and associated policies
Manage system vendors in their development and implementation of systems (including technical architecture, and systems functionality)

To be considered for this role, you will bring:
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Business
Project Management qualification (preferable Agile trained)
3+ years project managing complex programs of work, in operational environments
Technical management of advanced systems, and a background in process design and translation into system enhancements
Experience in the effective management of system vendors in regard to functionality, support levels, and specification of system enhancements.
Team leadership experience
Previous evidence of advanced system skills is required, including MS Office (to macro/VBA development level).
Technical experience in managing a large or complex enterprise system, including the management of vendors.
