Manager of Business Unit - Corrective Services Industries - Shortland

About the role

Salary: $125,384.00 - Superannuation - Annual Leave Loading

Position Type: Ongoing Permanent – Full Time

Location: Shortland CC

We are looking for an energetic and motivated person to lead and manage our Buy Ups, Print, Food Service and Textiles business units at Shortland Correctional Centre. The successful applicant will be employed as Manager Business Unit responsible for the daily operation and organisation of work-related activities including the supervision of staff, approved CSNSW subcontractors and the supervision and training of inmates.

Managers of Business Units are trade qualified Correctional Officers with the essential role of managing and supervising staff and inmates in their work-related activities within a correctional centre.

Essential requirements

Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes
The successful candidate will be paid to undertake Primary Training for Certificate III in Correctional Practice
Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role
Knowledge of Business Management Systems (eg Pronto, SAP, QMS)
Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III level) in the following: Management, Bakery Operations, Food Manufacturing, Packaging, Print or related industry
Ability to meet the Key Accountabilities and Focus Capabilities detailed in the Role Description

About you

The ideal candidate will be able to prove their skills to:
Manage, plan, control and oversee the activities of the business/service unit, in the provision of services and products to clients, to ensure productivity, efficiency and other commercial objectives are achieved and that quality and safety requirements and customer needs are met
Appraise the performance of the Business/Service Unit as well as staff managed and provide counsel and feedback to ensure organisational and development objectives are achieved.
Balance inmate management and training with the commercial and quality needs of the Business/Service Unit
Ensure all staff provide input into the case management process through the Work Readiness Program
Promote the recognition of inmate contributions to workplace productivity, safety and process improvements
Manage resources and budget efficiently and effectively to achieve planned outcomes, including staff and inmates
Work in a flexible manner within a team environment and multi-skill across varying trades
Prove strong time management and computer skills
Maintain Duty of Care and compliance with relevant CSNSW and CSI policies, practices, procedures and probity requirements
Build relationships with key stakeholders, source local business opportunities and promote awareness of CSI capability and contribute to business growth
Liaise with relevant stakeholders and commit to customer service
Create and maintain a safe working environment for staff, contractors, inmates and visitors to comply with Work Health & Safety legislation
