The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand, is looking for a Manager, Conferences and Events for our Membership & Events Department.


The primary focus of this role is to successfully manage, develop and deliver a range of RANZCP conferences, and guide and support a dedicated team to deliver the full schedule of annual events.


This role has a specific focus to:

  • Working closely with the Executive Manager, Membership and Events, lead the RANZCP Events team to deliver the annual calendar of RANZCP bi-national conferences and events, ensuring they are meeting members’ continuing professional development needs.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of the RANZCP’s annual Congress and annual New Zealand conference, in partnership with ap ointed PCOs and working closely with relevant local organising and scientific program committees.
  • Manage, lead, and develop staff within the Events team.
  • Develop and oversee conference budgets to ensure financial viability.
  • Appoint and manage PCOs in consultation with the Executive Manager, Membership and Events.
  • Develop robust conference programs in conjunction with relevant committees, to meet members’ continuing medical education needs.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • A minimum of three years’ demonstrated experience with the management or coordination of major conferences, including fiscal and sponsorship outcomes.
  • The ability to establish appropriate business relationships with relevant committees, suppliers, and key partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing large conference budgets.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • High level and flexible communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to drive proactive marketing campaigns for specific events.
  • Experience managing, leading and developing staff.
