Who are we?
The City of Rockingham (the City) is a Local Government Authority located 40 km south of the Perth CBD. It is a strategic regional centre, has a population of almost 140,000 and is one of the fastest growing local governments. By 2036 the City’s population is expected to be over 190,000.
The City is known as the place ‘where the coast comes to life’ and offers an enviable lifestyle with 37KM of stunning coastline.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to join a progressive local government in a key leadership role that will contribute to shaping the tourist and economic future of the City.
What is the job role?
As part of the Community Development leadership team your focus will be on attracting investment and economic development within the City, and enhancing our place as a prime tourist destination.
A dynamic professional, you have significant economic experience in commercial property development either in the private or public sector, to promote investment and development in key areas within the City. With strengths in promotion and marketing, you will elevate our City’s profile to tourists and potential visitors.
Reporting to the Director Community Development you will develop and implement the key recommendations of the City’s Economic Development Strategy and Tourism Strategy which will include managing relationships with key stakeholders such as Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce, Department of Defence, Tourism WA, local businesses and other key stakeholders.
The position requires a well-developed knowledge of economic development, commercial property development economics and prevailing market conditions. The successful applicant will have well sound networks within the business and property sector and have experience in targeting investment for major commercial facilities and large scale multi-residential developments.
Applicants will possess tertiary qualifications in either commerce, marketing, economics, urban and regional planning or property.
What do we offer?
We are offering a remuneration package of circa $180,000 per annum inclusive of a vehicle allowance and superannuation of 10.5%.

Selection Criteria
Significant experience in economic development and business growth with an understanding of the relativity to local government
Extensive practical experience in town planning or a related discipline
Ability to research, evaluate and make recommendations on complex economic development issues
Highly developed relationship building skills across developers, investors and small-large businesses
