In June 2019, the Office of Australian Privacy Commissioner issued an Enforceable Undertaking (EU) to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). The EU outlines activities that CBA and some of its subsidiaries must undertake over the next few years to improve the collection, maintenance, use and retention of Customer Personal Information in line with the Australian Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles.
You will be directly apart of the MCA and LGG Chief Controls Office as well as part of the broader Group Privacy EU Program; and specifically support the Marketing and Corporate Affairs (MCA) and Legal and Group Secretariat (LGS) Support Units address the EU requirements.
- MCA focuses on rebuilding trust and pride in the Commonwealth Bank with direct responsibility for end-to-end marketing, branding, stakeholder insights, government relations, communications and corporate social responsibility.
- LGS is focused on advising the CEO and the Board on legal matters and corporate governance.
Impact and Role Contribution:
You will report to the Manager - Risk and Control Advisory Delivery and play a part in the following:
- Developing the program and execution of privacy controls assurance, testing and compliance monitoring activities.
- Building risk capability to enhance management of personal information within the business.
- Collaborating with Business stakeholders, Line 1 and Line 2 Risk Advisers, Cyber Security and the Privacy EU Program teams.
- Evolving solutions with flexibility and agility.
- Being known for your honest and transparent approach to people interactions.
Your Responsibilities:
- To utilise subject matter expertise in controls governance, assurance and compliance monitoring
- Analysis of obligations and business process and controls
- Formulating business response plans and supporting the business address any gaps identified
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement to achieve quality business and customer outcomes.
- Effective time-management to deliver priorities agreed by Project and Business Owner.
- Pro-actively identify and raise potential risks and issues for your business and suggested mitigants/resolutions.
- Complete timely and accurate project documentation to meet closure criteria.
- Actively participate in project activities (e.g. team meetings, working groups, continuous improvement initiatives and sharing learnings).
- Undertake admin tasks and responsibilities as required for the project or Business Owner.

- Experience in documenting and coaching others in changes to Standard Operating Procedures
- Knowledge of Australian Privacy obligations, data classification concepts.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications desirable.
