About the role
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for evaluating and implementing new production processes, managing project timelines, participating in product development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This role aims to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and contribute to the profitability of AutoPacific.
The objectives of this position are to:
- Evaluate new production processes, equipment, tooling, component design & line layout.
- Design / implement new products and manage project timing within the AutoPacific Engineering Group.
- Participate as a team member in the realisation of product opportunities.
- Participate and provide input regarding product design and cost optimization for all new products during all Gate and Design Review meetings.
- To participate in product and service modifications that will enhance the profitability of AutoPacific and / or meet the cost down initiatives demanded by customers.
- Facilitate and advise employees of Autopacific in the continuous improvement of Autopacific systems and processes including the reduction of waste and development of our capability.
- Work closely with staff to gather operational information for review of current processes including manufacturing and business processes, evaluation of process capabilities and the formulation and implementation of lean Manufacturing Processes.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Postgraduate management qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Considerable experience in designing mechanically loaded/safety products.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, electronic circuits, and programming languages.
- Project management experience.
- Manual steel welding experience (essential).
- In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, robotics, welding, and automation.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and process control.
- Knowledge of maintenance schedules and equipment disposal plans.
- Effective fault locating and diagnosing capability.
