You want to travel to energy projects across the world (mainly in Australia) and enjoy the view from wind turbine nacelles. Primary Responsibilities at the Office/Workshop (~70%):
  • Project management and execution of power performance measurements on wind turbines
  • Project management and execution of measurements in solar and wind sites (scope, schedule, costs)
  • Project planning including contract review, technical analysis and documentation
  • Measurement equipment specification, procurement, preparation
  • Data monitoring and analysis to international standards and internal best practices
  • Writing technical reports to customers on outcomes and results of measurement projects
  • Subcontractor management for meteorological mast installations
  • Wind and solar resource monitoring using DNV’s Resource Panorama service
  • Support business development through lead generation and proposal writing
  • Assembly of electrical enclosures, primarily for sensor data acquisition
  • Factory Acceptance Testing for measurement equipment before deployment
Primary Responsibilities on Site (~30%):
  • Manage installation and commissioning of wind measurement equipment (mast or remote sensing devices such as LiDAR, SoDAR) and solar measurements (solar monitoring stations) and associated measurement equipment on behalf of customers.
  • Working closely with customers and their technicians on complex and sometimes remote construction sites
  • Climbing wind turbines applying safety policies and training
  • Installation and calibration of measurement systems in turbines and on masts
  • Troubleshooting data acquisition systems and sensors
Additional Tasks May Include:
  • Support business development of the measurement services through collaboration with international offices and engaging in R&D and innovation framework
  • Develop tools and processes to continuously improve quality and value of delivery
Position Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering (or other relevant discipline)
  • Master's degree
  • Electrical licence
  • Previous renewable energy, consulting, project management, electronics experience or credentials
  • Familiarity with multiple meteorological and electrical measurement systems and sensors
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems or remote sensing
  • Familiarity with analysis packages used in the wind industry such as Python, IMC Famos, WAsP, Matlab, Windfarmer, Windapp etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Business development and sales experience, preferably with a Renewables Measurements background
  • GWO certificates
Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job:
  • Regular interstate travel to wind farms, wind or solar development sites, other offices, and conferences
  • Occasional international travel
  • Valid driving licence required and acceptable driving record meeting company requirements; ability to rent a vehicle
  • Regular work outdoors in harsh conditions including but not limited to climbing stairs and ladders to ascend wind turbines or met masts, traveling by car up to six hours and walking on uneven terrain
  • Regular lifting of up to 25 kg, regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching

DNV’sMeasurements Team delivers high-quality measurements to support wind and solar development. On wind turbines, the team performs measurements to assure wind turbine functionality and performance when placed in operation. We are engineers, scientists and businesspeople dedicated to the success of the renewable energy industry. In short, we verify through measurements, that wind farms, wind turbines and other renewable energy facilities will produce enough energy over their service life. Our primary services include wind turbine performance testing for newly constructed sites, and resource measurements for future wind and solar farm developments.

The Australian Measurements team is part of ANZ’s Energy Systems team of approximately 60 staff located in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. It is part of a global team of Measurements experts with other competence centres in China, India, Germany, Spain and the US with further expertise in other DNV offices.
