What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the role is to provide high level specialised media and communication support to ensure the efficient and effective operation of MHCS to achieve business and service objectives. These include: strengthen the capacity of health services and programs to effectively and appropriately communicate with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; improve individual health literacy of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and organisational health literacy capability; through co-design and collaboration; contribute to evidence base to inform multicultural health communication policy and practice; and provide a responsive, effective and efficient service.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria * Relevant tertiary qualifications in media/public relations and social marketing, or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, including demonstrated high level media writing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating media and communication campaigns and projects.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills including, the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation in relation to communication with CALD communities.
- Demonstrated high level negotiation and facilitation skills and commitment to customer service, including demonstrated experience with codesign and/or arts-in-health approaches to communicating with CALD communities.
- Effective time management and demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Current drivers licence with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
