About the role
The Senior Staff Specialist/Staff Specialist provides clinical specialist support to the Specialist Programs and Alcohol and Other Drug service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centered clinical practice.
The Medical Director provides clinical care to patients and clinically manages on a day-to-day basis the associated multidisciplinary patient care team to ensure the delivery of appropriate patient care. In addition, the role provides professional leadership to the department and training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members.
This position is Medical Director 0.5FTE with a clinical component 0.5FTE within the SPAODS service line.
Requirements for the role
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and COVID-19.
- Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
- MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRANZCP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and registrable as a psychiatry specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Sub-specialty preferred within the SPAODS service line; AODS, consultation liaison, forensic.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a government vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for Mental Health and Specialist Services.

- Estimated total remuneration up to $440,177 p.a., comprising:
- Senior Staff Specialist: Base salary from $225,777 - $239,377 p.a
- Staff Specialist: Base salary from $189,406 - $219,330 p.a
