About the business
Gordon Eye Surgery and Lane Cove Eye Surgery are busy specialist consulting rooms with 17 ophthalmologists plus other specialists giving care to patients from all over Australia. We have 3-6 doctors working simultaneously with clinical / orthoptic staff and nurses.
We pride ourselves on providing personalised, caring treatment in the setting of a modern, fully equipped practice.
Our Administration Team comprises of 8 working daily at Gordon and 1 at Lane Cove. This role reports to our Administration Team Leader. We also have a Practice Manager, Business Manager and Clinical Team Leader on site for any queries and full training is provided.

We are looking for a calm and friendly medical receptionist that is happy working under pressure, keeping a calm demeanour and able to problem solve. Patient care is our first priority and we have a lovely team with an open & friendly culture.

As a Medical Administrator you are the face of our practice and its specialists and the first point of contact for referrers, patients and colleagues. First opinions are always very important and that is why you are responsible for making sure that those first opinions are always favourable. You are required to maintain a professional personal presentation to everyone that approaches the office by any method. Providing a warm smile and welcome to patients with a professional demeanour to let them know that they are welcome and you are there to help them with any of their needs is essential. Duties include:
- 4 receptionists on our front desk
- 1-2 on our back desk
- 1 answering phones
- concierge
Hours
The current role available is 62 hours per fortnight over 4 days (every day except Monday).
Our roster is 8 hour shifts at our Gordon site, 6 hour shifts at our Lane Cove site, and start times vary between 7:30am to 12:30pm with finish times between 1:30pm to 7pm depending on doctor's rosters (for example, "open" is 7:30 – 3:30, "close" is 11am – 7pm and these are shared fairly across all staff members).
Rosters are released two weeks ahead and follow a four weekly rotating pattern.

Required capabilities:
- Previous medical reception experience preferred
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service focus and compassion for patients
