Mental Health Clinician - Older Persons Services
Manning Mental Health - Taree

(Temporary Position until October 2023)

This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflect the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

This is a targeted position in accordance with Policy Directive (PD2016_053) NSW Health Good Health - Great Jobs: Aboriginal Workforce Strategic Framework 2016 - 2020. Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent who meet the selection criteria. Exemption is claimed under S21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. About the Job:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will provide efficient and effective assessment and care coordination services for people experiencing mental health concerns and their families and carers.
This community-based position will require you to provide intervention and consultation to older individuals in the home, community health setting and Residential Aged Care Facilities.
You will take charge and case manage clients within Taree or Forster and surrounding areas ensuring that clients receive quality person centred care whilst working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.
The successful candidate will have comprehensive clinical experience and knowledge in relation to mental illness, assessment and care planning including working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007, and contemporary principles and practices in mental health care.
You will also have the ability to assess risk, perform mental state examinations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Your exceptional communication skills and passion for building therapeutic relationships with consumers will be the key to your success in this position.
The hours for the position are 8:30am – 5:00pm.

The Manning Community Mental Health Team provides mental health services to Bulahdelah, Gloucester, Forster and Taree, located on the beautiful Lower Mid North Coast of NSW.
The dynamic, multidisciplinary team is supported by the Clinical Care Coordinator with clinical supervision available and encouraged to support your professional development and career growth.

Requirements:
This position is graded as up to an Occupational Therapist Level 3, Social Worker Level 3, Psychologist and Registered Nurse. Graduates from the Bachelor of Health Science Mental health (Djirruwang Program) may be appointed as a Counsellor Level 3.
Recognised and accredited tertiary qualification and registration (or eligibility for) with the relevant board via AHPRA, or eligibility for membership of the relevant association, in one of the following disciplines: social work, psychology, occupational therapy or nursing.Availability for the hours for the position which are 8:30am – 5:00pm
Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.

Information for Applicants:

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases - this is a Category A position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive (PD2022_030). All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.

To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
