About the Mental Health Division
The Mental Health Division provides care and services through a comprehensive range of teams to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria. Services are located across Austin Health campuses and in the community. The Mental Health Division incorporates four program areas:
- Triage, Assessment and Planning Service
- Adult Mental Health Services
- Child and Youth Mental Health Services
- Mental Health Specialty Services.
About the role
The Mental Health Act 2022 Embedded Practitioner is part of a coordinated strategy to support sector implementation of the new Act. The Embedded Practitioners will be expected to have a range of responsibilities central to the local implementation of the new Act within the Mental Health Division at Austin Health.
This is an exciting role for a mental health nurse, psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, or speech pathologist who is passionate about supporting the implementation plans for the new Act. To ensure success and to support this role to deliver service-specific implementation plans for Austin Health, the Embedded Practitioner will undertake several actions:
Develop general guidance on the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Act
Lead the strategy for workforce learning and development
Support and provide advice on reviewing and developing new procedures and policies
Participate in implementation forums of Embedded Practitioners that will support collaboration, information-sharing and consistency across services to deliver on reform objectives.
This will enable you to lead this project in the Mental Health Division at Austin Health with clarity and success. The embedded practitioner will work closely with the Senior Mental Health Nurse and the Clinical Director of Adult Services.
This is a full time role, for a fixed term of 18 months.
