As the Metering Projects Engineer in our Mondo & Tech Services team, this role is required to manage the NEM metering systems project development tasks and relevant Metering Projects within the Transmission networks, Sub-Transmission networks, HV Customer Installation, Wind farm and Solar farm. You will contribute your expertise on issues relating to database system development to meet requirements of the NER and the organisation.

This role is based in Yarraville, Victoria and is part of the Mondo & Tech Services team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

• Setup and maintenance of Virtual Machine meter polling scheduling system.
• Develop an online (cloud) version of the meter register and planner database that interacts with Ms Desktop Suite / Graphic User Interface (GUI).
• Development of new metering testing equipment and procedures and meter data management system and its representation of validation in a GUI.
• Develop, maintain, and improve metering systems and the testing processes and ensure they meet the requirements of the various codes and accreditations & compliances.
• Support the field test teams in terms of hardware, software and firmware setup and update/upgrade.
• Analyse meter data and advise market participants of any anomalies.
• To handle communication failure / remote communications, liaise with communications group and be able to troubleshoot modems etc.
• Conduct simulation testing of metering panel and reporting.
• Configuration of energy meters and its system accessories.
• Development of CAD drawings, technical documentation, and process flow charts.

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Candidates with Project Management certification (PRINCE2 / PMBOK) will be advantageous Skills and Experience
• Knowledge of energy metering systems / installations within Electrical Transmission & Distribution networks.
• Knowledge of the NEM, chapter 7 of NER and metrology procedures & Service Installation Rules.
• Knowledge of NATA, its requirements and experienced in the management of quality systems /documentations.
• Experienced in the management of routine testing / maintenance scheduling and adhering to regulatory compliance of assets.
• Able to produce technical drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD / TurboCad).
• Experienced in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting serial and ethernet communication devices (3G/4G and PSTN csd and IP type modems, WAN, IoT, Wi-Fi etc).
• Have software programming skills (C, C++, Python, Visual Basics).
• Knowledge of the types and applications of metering and associated products used within the Transmission and Distribution Networks.
• Intermediate knowledge of testing LV and EHV metering equipment (including CTs and VTs)
• Ability to analyse & troubleshoot energy metering data and advise substitutions to meter data provider for market settlement.
