Job description

Mindsets & Behaviours Coach

  • Newly established team bringing innovation and empowerment to our front line
  • Advisory positions, partnering closely with leaders to embed change, mindset, behaviours and culture.
  • FIFO Opportunities from Brisbane and Perth

Join our Chief Operating Officer (COO) function as a Mindsets & Behaviours Coach to drive systematic improvements to Rio Tinto’s safety, operational performance and productivity.

Working in the COO team, you will partner with our product groups to enable and empower our people to achieve better performance as operators and leaders and help make our operations safer and more reliable and productive. The COO Function will do this by developing and supporting the implementation of the ‘Rio Tinto Safe Production System’ (RTSPS) and partnering with the Product Groups to enable and support their improvement pathway.

One of the more exciting aspects of the RTSPS is our commitment to progressively changing the way we lead to be more supportive and inclusive. We want our people, especially those at the front line, to be empowered to make the right decisions. It’s about making sure all of us have the right mindsets and behaviours to contribute, add value, reduce waste and continuously innovate to create a lasting competitive advantage for our business.

It is our strong belief that if we genuinely listen to, empower, coach, train and upskill our people, not only in performing at their best but also on improving mindsets and behaviours, then we will be successful.

These key developmental roles will drive the change by working with our Lighthouses (or foundation sites) to embed the change by sharing knowledge between sites, product groups and functions.

  • Researching related organisational development theories, techniques, and tools, and suggest enhancements to existing programs.
  • Utilising LCD modules to develop custom interventions.
  • Developing M&B Change Partners at a site level.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and knowledge transfer between sites, product groups and functions.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A natural coaching ability and show compassion, listen deeply and be motivated to make a difference.
  • The ability to link personal insights to the company strategy and business context
