Job description

Company: Join a well-established integrated mining operation based in the Northern Territory, specializing in the production of iron ore and a variety of other commodities. 

About Us: Nathan River is the proud owner and operator of the Roper Bar Iron Ore Mine. We have successfully integrated the entire pit-to-ship logistics chain, including open-pit mines, critical infrastructure, a private haul road, ship loading facilities, and specialized transshipment marine vessels.

Position Overview:

As a result of the remarkable success of our initial operations, we are currently seeking 2 innovative and resilient Mining Supervisors to join our project in Nathan River, Northern Territory. 

As a Mining Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating daily mining operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and adherence to company policies. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of miners, monitoring production targets, and implementing strategies to optimize mining processes.

Role is offered on a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off roster with a week of day shift and a week of night shift.

Point of hire is from Darwin NT 

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Supervise and lead a team of miners, providing guidance and support to ensure a cohesive and motivated workforce.

Foster a safety-first culture within the team, emphasizing the importance of following safety protocols and best practices.

Operational Oversight:

Monitor and manage daily mining activities to achieve production targets while maintaining high standards of safety and environmental compliance.

Coordinate equipment deployment and resource allocation to maximize efficiency.

Quality Control:

Implement quality control measures to ensure the extraction of high-quality ore and minerals.

Collaborate with geologists and other relevant departments to optimize ore recovery and processing.

Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of daily mining activities, production outputs, and equipment performance.

Generate regular reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.

Problem Solving:

Identify and address operational challenges promptly, working closely with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

Implement corrective actions to resolve issues and prevent reoccurrence.

Compliance and Regulations:

Stay abreast of mining regulations and industry best practices, ensuring that all operations comply with legal and environmental standards.

Work with regulatory bodies as needed and participate in audits to verify compliance.

Training and Development:

Conduct training sessions for mining personnel on safety procedures, equipment operation, and best practices.

Support the ongoing professional development of team members.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a mining or quarrying environment with a demonstrated track record of leadership.
  • Extensive experience operating a range of equipment 
  • Strong knowledge of mining operations, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with key stakeholders on site
