We have three factories in Australia spread across North Rocks and Minto in new South Wales and Tatura in Victoria.
At our North Rocks factory, we produce leading household brands including Rexona, Impulse, Omo, Surf, Dove & Tresemme. The Sourcing Unit is continually transforming to remain competitive in the market and has recently built a new Laundry Capsules Factory in addition to the Liquids and Aerosols factories.
At Streets, our Minto plant, we aim to ensure the manufacture of internationally competitive, quality products, produced efficiently, within a safe and satisfying work environment. We intend to work collaboratively with our employees to build and foster a partnership for the success of the Minto plant and to ensure a viable Ice Cream business in the future. On site at Minto there are currently 2 Mixing Plants: 1 Ice Cream, 1 Weis; 7 Production lines; 2 Material Storage Areas and Palletizing. We are currently producing approximately 60,000 Lts of Ice Cream per year.
The Tatura site manufactures Foods product such as the wonderful brands Continental and Hellman’s.
Job Summary:
A new opportunity has emerged for a very talented National Engineering Manager based at one of our Unilever Sydney factories.
Reporting to the ANZ Supply Chain Director, the National Engineering Manager will oversee the Engineering and Maintenance aspects for the 3 factories including team technical competency, capital project management, effective reliability and maintenance programmes, asset lifecycle management and 0–5-year factory enhancement plans.
Where you will bring your expertise and make a difference:
Engineering Team
In conjunction with the Site Directors and other members of the SCLT, design the optimal Engineering and Maintenance organisation to have the necessary depth of technical and troubleshooting skills as well as new technology experts to facilitate our future plans
Capital & Major Project Deployment
Develop and implement 1- 5 year capital plans based on current infrastructure and future fit factory visionary needs
Ensure Projects are executed with the latest BIC Unilever and industry project management tools
Ensure all project deliverables and considerations are included in all stages – including Australian standards, SHE, Quality of design, ease of operation and maintenance
Clearly measured project deliverables/KPIs that are reviewed on a timely basis for effective project implementation
Autonomous maintenance and digital intelligence
Review current maintenance routines, stores management and parts purchasing practices to standardise (where applicable) and lead the implementation to AM
Develop industry best reliability practices that deliver tangible and measurable site improvement opportunities eg maintenance planning
Explore DI opportunities within and external to UL for improved efficiency gains, enhanced monitoring and predictive analyses with the necessary upskilling plans. Develop 5-year optimised enhancement plans incorporating these activities
Asset lifecycle and management
Review current practices for asset management, tagging, verification, disposal, lifecycle to ensure full control and visibility from an equipment and financial perspective
Build discipline into asset write off standard practices as well as accurate equipment depreciation accuracy
Implement stocktake procedures for assets and spares on a regular basis to identify and avoid major reconciliation issues leading to cost implications

About YOU:
Demonstrated experience and success in leading multi-site Engineering teams and multiple processing equipment types
Visible self-starter, team player and with a holistic understanding of the overall Enterprise view
Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic environment
B. Engineering degree in relevant specialist discipline
10+ years manufacturing industry experience in Engineering leadership roles across different manufacturing environments
Experience in FMCG or other relevant industry sector
Demonstrated & strategic thought leadership of multi-site Engineering and Maintenance teams
Proven Experience implementing CI/Lean/Engineering & Maintenance Improvement programmes with tangible outcomes
Multi-dimensional thinker with a passion for developing highly talented teams and step change initiatives
