Here at Churches of Christ, we help more than 2,200 Queensland families to become happier, safer, healthier and stronger through our intervention and support services. Currently, there is an opportunity for you to become a part of this initiative.
In partnership with the Queensland Government the Next Step Plus Program focuses on helping young people between the ages of 15 – 25 in Queensland, who are leaving, or have left care, with access to practical advice and support.
As a Next Steps Plus Case Manager you will actively identify needs and help grow a young person’s strengths that supports moving towards independence, which encompasses assisting them with building a support system that includes family, friends and the community.
You will proactively engage with young people to provide developmentally appropriate support based on their needs including, however, not limited to;
- Assistance finding education;
- Training and employment opportunities;
- Developing life skills;
- Social connections;
- Self-advocacy.
This is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract, however, there is the possibility of extension.
Remuneration for this role is $46.72 - $48.83 per hour commensurate with experience.

You are passionate about the welfare of children and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them. You will have the ability to easily establish and build rapport with people, in addition to being a naturally caring and positive individual.
This is a role working with people and as such, you should really thrive on those daily interactions. With excellent communication skills, you are capable of liaising comfortably with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
You are a positive role model to young people, always advocating for their needs, preparing them for the many challenge’s adulthood can bring. With a naturally empathetic nature you are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals and can connect and engage with them. You have the ability to ensure their voice is heard, particularly when decisions are made that affect them.
Prior work experience in the Child Protection Sector would be highly regarded, as is having a comprehensive knowledge of legislative and service requirements.
Ibn addition, to be suitable for this position, you will have:
- A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline;
- Demonstrated experience in supporting young people from adolescence to adulthood;
- Minimum Provisional 2 driver’s license (Green P).
