Position Classification: Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer
Hours per Week: Up to 40 Hours per week

Staff Specialist Remuneration: $252,285 - $311,325 per annum full time equivalent depending on experience. Remuneration as Senior Specialist will be considered and is subject to CE Approval
Staff Specialist Applicants Only: **This vacancy is eligible for a NSW Health Rural Health Incentive Package of $5,000 per year in addition to award entitlements and accommodation assistance (paid on a pro-rata basis for part time employees). What you'll be doing

Leading, managing and providing clinical oversight across the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services planning, developing and providing safe, contemporary, evidence-based and recovery focused comprehensive services at the primary facility and other facilities where applicable for optimal patient outcomes delivering a healthy community through quality care.

Provide clinical governance and support clinical quality and safety, clinical key performance indicators, the implementation and evaluation of clinical service plans and service models and ensure system improvements provide the highest quality of care and safety for patients.

Providing and supporting training for clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice

Where you'll be working

This position is based at Lismore Base Hospital a regional referral, Level 5 base hospital providing a wide range of health services to residents in Northern NSW including Mental Health Inpatient and Outpatient services. Please visit NNSWLHD Mental Health Services for more information.

In Northern NSW Local Health District, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Workers are based in Grafton, Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, and provide support for young people aged 12 to 18 years. They may also provide referrals to other community services that will more appropriately meet the young person’s needs.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Workers offer:
mental health assessment
family counselling,
individual counselling and support
crisis intervention

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Selection Criteria

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
Completion of (or working towards) the Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Demonstrated current clinical experience as Senior Medical Officer in Psychiatry at the role delineation of the service.
Demonstrated recent leadership and management experience.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated effective clinical communication through use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time and hold a valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
