Summary
Our Support Workers must have a passion for working with children and have a naturally engaging, friendly and warm presence, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting the autism community.
Support Workers will work alongside children and their families, to support them at home and in the community with daily living skills, social participation, learning and recreational experiences, and activities to help sustain our client’s informal support network.
Support Workers will be expected to be professional, maintain confidentiality, flexible, reliable, collaborative, respectful, honest, positive and committed to ongoing professional development.
Mandatory Requirements
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- Physical ability to energetically play and lift young children (up to 20kg)
- An unrestricted Australian Drivers License and own well maintained vehicle
- Availability to work 6-30hours a week in the NOR area of Perth, WA
- Availability to work at least one afternoon between 2pm and 5pm
- Available to commit to regular weekly shifts during school term time
- Own a smart mobile phone with roaming internet connection
Mandatory Requirements (or willing to obtain)
- National Police Clearance
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Working with Children's Check
Desirable Requirements
- Personal or professional interest or experience living or supporting autistic individuals
- Professional experience working with children and/or teenagers
- Average or higher fitness levels including swimming competency
- Certificate III or IV in relevant area e.g., individual support, education support, youth work, community service
OR
Currently studying for relevant qualification e.g. allied health, medicine, social work, education

- ACT for Autism Australia provide Support Worker services to children under 16 years old, and currently have families who require support in the NOR areas of Perth, WA.
