Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage About the role National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Field Supervisor to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. A Field Supervisor coordinates and supervises contractors in the delivery of field operations for NPWS.
This position is based at Killalea Regional Park and will be working closely with the Team Leader Field Operations role ensuring the efficient and safe undertaking of works and maintenance duties across the Area. You will also be asked to contribute to the planning, prioritisation and scheduling of works and be able to undertake administrative and record keeping duties.
This is a hands-on role which will involve assisting with the construction and maintenance of roads and fire trails and other infrastructure, protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage sites and the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment. About you As a supervisor, you’ll be experienced in managing and leading a dynamic team and managing multiple projects at once.
Your organisational skills and adaptability will be key to your success, coupled with your communication skills and ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders. You’ll work with Rangers and contractors to ensure the delivery of programs and priority projects. As such your collaborative approach and motivation to achieve outcomes will be an asset in this role.
Essential requirements Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent. Demonstrated well-developed supervisory and team leadership skills for the implementation of field and operational activities, including the construction and maintenance of walking tracks and park facilities, and pest plant and animal control. Demonstrated ability and experience in cost estimation, budgeting and planning and programming.
Experience or detailed knowledge of various trades. Ability and demonstrated experience to undertake crew leadership in fire management. Relevant SafeWork NSW certification, ability and experience in the operation of machinery, plant and equipment for maintenance/construction work, including chainsaws to basic tree felling standard.
