Overview
Employees classified at this level provide clinical nursing expertise for specified individual clients within Disability Services whilst supporting the Access Assistant Program (AAP) Medical Consultant. Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.
The Disability Services Nurse Consultant role will work closely with and primarily support the AAP Medical Consultant referrals. This will include coordination, planning, undertaking health assessments and the development of care and support plans.
The role will also include an education portfolio including the development and evaluation of professional developmental activities including liaising with Education and Care Settings and key stakeholders.
About the Women's and Children's Health Network
The Women's and Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia.
It is the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA's largest maternity and obstetric service. It also provides important community-based services.
Each year, more than 30,000 people are admitted and about 5000 babies are born at the Women's and Children's Hospital. In addition more than 250,000 people come to the hospital as outpatients.
The hospital has 295 beds. The hospital's paediatric and adolescent wards cater for all paediatric specialties. Women's wards provide antenatal, gynaecology, neonatal and postnatal care.
