The Role:
The Emergency Medicine program at Northern Health is rapidly growing and expanding with a new 12 bed external ED pod to be commissioned from June 2022 and future projects in progress including the development of a new state of the art Urgent Care Centre at Craigieburn. Additionally, in partnership with the newly established, Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED), the Northern Health Emergency Department is expanding the scope of our Nurse Practitioner model to include provision of service via our VVED model of care.
With a large, fast paced Emergency Department comprising 53 cubicle spaces including five (5) resuscitation bays, nine (9) bed fast track space as well as dedicated 24 hour paediatric emergency department lead by specialist Paediatric Emergency Physicians, the opportunities for professional growth, experience and development opportunities are endless. The opportunity to work in and contribute to the development of the VVED service is another opportunity to further expand your NP scope of practice and can also offer opportunities for publication for those applicants who may be interested.
The Emergency Department at Northern Health has a well-established Nurse Practitioner Service with five (5) endorsed Nurse Practitioners working across both our Fast Track and Assessment streams. We also have three (3) Nurse Practitioner candidates currently undertaking their NP training and are scheduled to achieve endorsement over the next 12-24 months.
Therefore, we are looking for additional Nurse Practitioners to join our team. You will be supported by a motivated, dynamic senior leadership team as well as be able to participate in regular study and mentorship opportunities facilitated by our senior Medical staff.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner (Emergency Nursing)
- Previous experience working as a Nurse Practitioner within an Emergency Department
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
- Evidence of commitment to quality improvement
- Ability to work across a rotating roster including, weekends, public holidays and night duty
