Job Description
Epworth Healthcare is seeking Grade 1 and Grade 2 Occupational Therapists to join our multidisciplinary team at Epworth Richmond.
We have multiple opportunities available:
Full-Time - As a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing care to acute hospital patients. The role includes a medical and oncology caseload. Reporting to the Occupational Therapy Team Leader you will be working in small enthusiastic and cohesive clinical team that provides great care to many of our most vulnerable patients.
Casual - As a Grade 1 or 2 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for covering leave (weekdays only) across any of the following clinical areas: general medicine, oncology, orthopaedics, neurology and neurosciences, cardiac and general surgical. You will be part of the acute allied health team and report to the Occupational Therapy Team Leader.
Fixed Term Part-Time (2 days a week) - As a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing care to acute hospital patients. The role offers the possibility of exposure to a broad range of interesting clinical caseloads including orthopaedics, surgical, neurosciences and critical care. Reporting to the Occupational Therapy Team Leader, you will be working in small enthusiastic and cohesive clinical team, that provides great care to many of our most vulnerable patients. The role is fixed-term until 30 June 2024. Additional employment opportunities are anticipated beyond this date.
You will make an impact by:
- Working closely alongside and collaborating with all members of a multidisciplinary team
- Having well-developed organisational and planning skills
- Ensuring care is efficient and targeted to optimise hospital patient flow
- Providing best practice, empathetic care to acute patients
- Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic clinical environment
- Always ensuring safe practice to mitigate psychosocial risks in patient care
- Contributing strongly to the positive culture of the occupational therapy and broader allied health team
- Providing excellent supervision to students and Grade 1Occupational Therapists (Grade 2 roles only)
- Demonstrating commitment as a team member, adaptable to the prevailing clinical demands of a busy acute hospital
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary Occupational Therapy qualifications
- Be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- At least 2 years hospital experience as an Occupational Therapist (Grade 2 roles)
- Be proficient in assessment, management, and discharge planning of acute care patients across a range of clinical areas
- Demonstrate accountability with a strong, supportive and engaging communication style
- Previous experience in student supervision (Grade 2 roles only)
- Availability for both short and longer periods of leave coverage during the working week (casual Grade 1 and Grade 2 roles)
