The Parish of St John the Baptist Canberra is a dynamic and active Christian community in the heart of Canberra, whose mission is to ‘bear public witness to Jesus Christ through Anglican worship and pastoral ministry, loving community and outward-facing mission.'
We are a large and operationally complex Parish, located on a heritage site which contains Canberra's oldest church building, a registered charity, a registered museum, commercial carparking and historic graves. We conduct a wide variety of regular worship services, as well as weddings, funerals and interments of ashes, ministry to children and youth, and other activities.
We are seeking a highly efficient and competent Office Administrator to join our team. We offer a supportive and welcoming Christian environment with flexible hours (approx. 25 - 35 hours per week, negotiable) and we pay above the award rate.
The successful applicant will be responsible to the Rector for the efficient running of the office, working closely with our clergy, Operations Manager, volunteers and wider ministry team. Key tasks will involve overseeing our rosters, drafting and printing service sheets and weekly newsletters, receiving visitors and phone calls, and managing office supplies.
Essential qualities include a friendly and professional manner, excellent administrative skills, very good attention to detail and good written expression. A strong commitment to the church's mission and knowledge of the dynamics of church communities is highly desirable. The successful applicant will need to be competent with the Microsoft suite of office software and ideally have experience working in small office environments.
