You will be working for an Insights and Analysis team within a local government organisation that is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of Australians. The organisation is dedicated to providing high-quality services to the public.
The Analytics Lead/Manager plays a critical role in developing and driving a holistic view of enterprise insights to support a data-lead culture and uplift organisational performance. The position is responsible for collaborating and contributing to the successful delivery of enterprise reporting and analytics projects and provides the opportunity for interaction with high profile stakeholders across the organisation including branch directors, General Managers and the CEO’s office.
Your new role
The responsibilities of the leadership role include but are not limited to:
Leading, guiding and managing the team to foster a performance based culture and drive accountability and excellence in outcomes through coaching, mentoring and empowering team members and direct reports to develop and perform at a high level, and as an effective team.
Efficiently and effectively manage the teams budget
Developing evidence-based data models and visualisations to provide operational performance insights and data which enhance performance accountability reporting of Council’s services.
Promoting the Data, Analytics and Insights capability and Operational Analytics capability across the organisation
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to uplift operational analysis and provide insights.
Supporting the continued adoption of analytics including the undertaking of research into the opportunities offered by machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Participating in stakeholder engagement activities, including workshop co-facilitation, in order to develop a deeper understanding on the needs of internal customers.
Communicating complex data insights across the organisation, including preparing documentation for the CEO.
What you'll need to succeed
Leadership capability including leading by example and consistently working towards a constructive culture.
Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve high performance outcomes with coaching skills to develop team capabilities, team cohesion and the ability to effectively manage conflict and under performance.
Proven experience effectively managing issues within a highly political and complex environment.
Experience in working with a range of data visualisation tools and software interfaces to create and maintain outcome focused, insightful and story-telling performance reporting dashboards.
Proficient skills in data analysis and interpretation, including experience in using data, statistical and visualisation tools such as PowerBI, SQL, R, Python or other similar tools. Proficiency with Excel, SharePoint, Shiny, Databricks and GIS.
Experience in project/program management
