About the Role

Reporting to our fabulous Head of Operational Risk Advisory, this role is responsible for leading the implementation and embedding our Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) across the BOQ Group, through effective business partnering. This includes the framework, supporting processes and reporting of all operational and resilience risks and controls, ensuring end-to-end awareness and understanding in line with the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF).

This role leads an effective risk partnering function that provides advisory and services to all divisions here at BOQ Group, such as Group Finance, Group Technology, People and Culture and of course our wonderful Group Risk team. Working collaborative with the business this role will help align to the strategic direction and growth of BOQ.

The role will ensure that our divisions are supported by advice, awareness, and assurance for their risk practices and that they are effective and fit-for-purpose, ensuring our friends in 2nd line are able to execute their responsibilities. You will be involved with:

Leading a team of Operational Risk professionals
Working closely with the Operational Risk and Assurance leadership team on the end-to-end view of risk management, identifying and addressing opportunities for improvement
Providing oversight, guidance, and enhancements to embedding an effective Operational Risk Management Framework.
Working closely with 1stline leadership teams across the bank to build strong foundations in risk management – from risk and control profiles and control testing, to managing incidents and issues.
Enhancing the maturity of Operational Risk through reporting and insights, working closely with divisions to ensure consistency in approach
Support the delivery of the 2nd line assurance reviews
Collaborate with peers to continuously improve operating practices
Delivery of operational risk capability uplift and training workshops
Provide accurate end to end delivery of reviews and reporting

About you

As an experienced Senior Partner, you’ll join us with exposure to Operational Risk within the banking and financial services landscape. Yip – you live and breathe all things Op Risk and join us with a passion, and experience of, elevating the maturity of a risk culture within a business. You come armed with a wealth of Operational Risk knowledge, and know how to implement frameworks, partnering with teams for a successful uptake.

We operate in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment so we are seeking a strategic thinker who can problem-solve on the fly. Collaboration and partnership come naturally to you, where you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, participating and promoting cooperative working relationships across the organisation.

As an outcome-driven professional you enjoy proactively communicating with the business to understand and reach their vision – and know how to align it with your teams. With your vast experience in Op Risk, you’re the go-to for all things involved with regulator priorities, prudential standards and legislation relating to the banking world.

You’re a natural born people-person with a strong background in leading operational risk teams, along with the application, of operational risk frameworks and/or audit frameworks within the financial services industry. Other skills and experience we are ideally seeking include:

Experience leading teams and people.
Extensive experience partnering with business functions.
Working collaboratively across divisions to uplift risk maturity.
Embed and uplift Operational Risk maturity.
Leveraging and aligning risk to deliver strategic business objectives.
